Scotland- Stirling

The last stop on the Great Scotland Roadtrip was Stirling.

Day eight and our last full day of sightseeing began at Stirling Castle.  Stirling Castle is an important castle because it was the last stronghold that stood between England and the rest of Scotland.  If Stirling fell, so did Scotland.

It was quite impressive.

The Great Hall was indeed great.

In also included the stained glass crests of King James V and wife Margaret Tudor.

The girls enjoyed walking through all the rooms.

Until this guy told Haley she must be a princess because she was wearing purple, to which she replied "I'm not a princess, I'm a regular girl."

And what would a fortress be without canons?

And an incredible view of the city.

Our second stop of the day was to Doune Castle.

Some might recognize it from Outlander.

Or Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

Aside from it's cinematic fame, it was an impressive castle, even Zach thought so.

A wedding had just finished up when we arrived, so the chapel was all set up.

The girls enjoyed checking out the old kitchen.

By the end of the day everyone was exhausted, so we settled for a picture of the William Wallace Monument instead of going up to the top.

At the end of a nine day epic roadtrip across Scotland, we were a little sad to be leaving Scotland.

But we had finally mastered the family selfie and were thrilled to be going home.

We had one of the most amazing family vacations ever!  We packed a lot in, but stayed flexible through the whole trip.  The weather was held out for us; we saw no rain and the sun came out each day.  Everyone was such a trooper through it all!  This was definitely one of my favorite adventures yet!!
