Summer Fun

Now that the computer is all hooked up again, I can finally get all these pictures off my phone and you can see what we've been up to the past few months.

Once we found a house, we decided to explore our new surroundings and found that we are only a few minutes from this lovely river.  There's even a nice little pub where you can sit outside and watch all the swans and rowers go by.  It is such a beautiful spot.

We even celebrated our first 4th of July here.  Well, sort of.  Our closest town had a big festival to celebrate Armed Forces Day, and it just happened to be on July 4th.  It was really neat. It was a 40s theme, so people were dressed up in old military uniforms and dresses.  There was a band that played big band music.  The girls got to climb into the old, big tankers that were there.

There was even a carnival with lots of rides and super yummy food (let me just say, I will probably gain 20lbs just from eating all the mini donuts, they are everywhere and so delicious).  Haley got to jump on one of the trampolines and just couldn't contain her excitement.  She loved it.

Then there was a flyover from an old war plane.

It was an unusually hot day, so the girls enjoyed putting their feet in the river while we waited for the boat parade.

This was my favorite boat during the parade.  It was very lively :)

The next weekend there was another festival in a local town.  This was much smaller, but we still had a great time.  Our favorite part was the crockery smash.  For a few pence, the girls got to throw wooden blocks at old dishes.  Serious fun.  I think both girls actually hit and broke something, which brought about lots of giggles.

We're definitely having fun exploring our new surroundings!  Stay tuned for more adventures!
