Safari Adventure

This week is our spring break and we knew we needed to get away, even if just for a night or two.  A friend of ours suggested this really cool idea of a drive-through safari that was a few hours up the road.  The girls love animals, so why not?!  And it was our first trip with friends, so that was an extra bonus!

Emily was ready to go on safari.  She was even dressed in her finest animal print attire.

There were lots of animals to see.  Zebras, rhinos, giraffes, monkeys, and lions.  We were pretty glad to be separated by a big fence and a vehicle as this lady lion was gnawing on her lunch.

Haley was pretty much in awe the whole time.

But you had to watch out, because some times the animals would cross the road and just check you out.

After animal watching, it was time to play.  There were lots of fun things for the kids to do, so here are a few highlights.

Haley and Zach went on the flying dragon together.  Other than being on the carousel, this was Haley's first amusement park ride and she did great!

Haley also got to feed the birds.  She loves feeding animals and this was no exception.  She did keep trying to pet the birds, but that was a no no.

Emily got the chance to feed some goats and wanted no part of it.  I think it freaked her out a little that they put their heads through a little hole and that's how you fed them.  (On another note, yes I see that Emily is missing her shoes.  Somehow we managed to lose one along the way and it was never found.  It was a huge bummer because they were her favorite pair.  Good thing I brought another pair with me!)

I even got the opportunity to ride a ride with the kids.  I lucky enough to be on the smallest of all the rides.  The little train was certainly not the smoothest ride ever, but it was fun.

After all the rides, we ended up at the splash area.  It was a great way to cool off and everyone enjoyed the water.

We ended our safari day with some ice cream.  It was the easiest way to bribe all the kids to leave without any meltdowns (mission accomplished!).  I loved that Haley and Zach had matching mustaches.

At the end of the day, our safari adventure wore the girls out.  It was such an awesome day!
