So for starters, Zach and I have been given orders to NAS (Naval Air Station) Key West. We will pull out of the driveway in Texas mid-September and arrive in Flordia about a week later. Everyone asks if I'm excited and it's a mixed bag. Some days I'm more excited than others. And if I hear someone tell me one more time that it's going to be like being on vacation all the time, I just might scream. Really, who wants to be on vacation for 3-5 years? And who considers being a stay at home mom a vacation? It's a lot more work than most people, even I, realize.
There will be lots of challenges-
- going from the big city to an island that could fit in our current neighborhood
- being away from family and friends
- not working
- experiencing hurricane season
- no Target :( (ok, it's a small challenge in the grand scheme of things, but still!!)
But, there will lots of great things too-
- new adventures to experience
- new people to meet
- great places to travel
- awesome vacations for our friends and family
- a chance for our family to become closer
- best of all- i get to spend more time with haley
I really am trying to keep an open mind about it all. I do think it will be a great opportunity for our little family of three. So keep checking back to make sure we're doing ok!!
Wow. What an exciting time for all of you! I can't imagine all of those changes at once. That would be very hard but I think staying home with Haley will make it all completely worth it! Staying home with your kids is definitely not easy, that is for sure but it is the 2nd best decision we ever made (1st was getting married). : ) You are likely to look back on this move one day and see it as one of the happiest times of your life. I love when you said a chance for your family to grow closer - that is an amazing thing. We'll be praying for you all as you embark on this new adventure! Oh, and I feel your pain about Target. I don't know what I would do without one! : )
