Things on Thursday

Up until recently, we've managed to stay pretty busy with school, music class, and all our other adventures.  But now, school is out and there just isn't much to do around town.  So here are a few things we've done to try to keep busy :)

Haley is finally riding her bike all on her own.  She is a pro now and loves to go fast!

There has been lots and lots of dress up play.

We read tons of books every day.  I love that these girls are such bookworms.

Haley and Emily have come up with a game called "Haley and Emily too close".  Basically, Zach hooked up the camera to the TV so the girls can watch themselves dance around.  Emily likes to take pictures while they play.

And speaking of games, Haley has learned to play Go Fish and tries to play with Emily.  It gets pretty silly.

Haley is just like momma and ready for football season to get here!  Haley loves wearing her
"Wreck 'Em Tech" dress and we've been practicing getting our guns up :)

We even went bowling one afternoon with friends.  The girls had such a great time and I was very impressed with their scores!

Catching Up

We have been so busy lately that I have been very neglectful in my updating.  So here is a little of what we have been up to.

Last weekend was the annual Spring Fair at Haley's school.  There are little kid rides, games, a petting zoo, Easter egg hunt, and more.  It the big fundraiser of the year and all the parents are required to work it.  I got to work at the crafts table with a friend and we had quite a bit of fun.

Since I was working the fair all day, Zach took the girls around to ride all the rides and play all the games.  They got to walk around with Haley's bestie, so that made the day even better.  They got to sit with the Easter bunny, and Haley did suprisingly well with that.  I was told that Emily loved fishing for the ducks.  It was a long hot day, but lots of fun!

The day after the fair, we were all so worn out that we just stayed in pjs all day.  We read lots and lots of books, watched a movie, and played.  It was a great lazy day.

The weather has been pretty good lately so we have been to the beach already.  The girls are such water babies!  Emily enjoyed "swimming".

I've even managed to get some crafting in.  I've been busy making wreaths the past few weeks.

And lastly, Mustache March is over!!  Zach finally shaved on the very last day.  He wasn't happy about it, but it was the happiest day of all of March for me!

Things On Thursday

We seem to be getting busier and busier these days.  But there is always time for fun!

Haley and Daddy are working out together again.  She loves doing leg lifts and lifting weights with him.  She tells us how "stroooooong" she is getting (as she pretends to flex her muscles).

Haley is also busy playing teacher.  She gets on her teacher (or doctor or librarian) glasses and lines up all her students.  Then they all sing the "Hello" song that she sings in school.  There is usually dancing and a book too.

Mustache March is upon us.  This is my least favorite time of the whole year and Zach's favorite.  We are halfway through it and this is what Zach has accomplished.  He looks about as thrilled as I am about the whole thing.  He tells me if I complain about it, he'll keep if for an extra day after the end.  I've told him that I'm going to shave it off in the middle in the night.  It's all in fun, but ICK!  Come on April!

Emily got sick over the weekend, so I ended up staying home with her with Zach and Haley went to play putt putt with friends.  This was Haley's first time and Zach said that she really enjoyed it.  Wish I could have been there for all the fun, but I know there will be lots more putt putt in the future.

Things On Thursday

We've been busy having lots of fun the past week.

A box came in the mail with Emily's diapers and the girls had a blast playing in it.  Haley would cover herself up and Emily would open the box.  Lots and lots of laughs and fun.

There have been lots of "big trucks" (the electric company) in our neighborhood lately.  For a few days, they were in our backyard and the girls were camped out on their chairs watching them.  Emily will hear a sound now and say "Sound?  Truck?"

We have also been doing a lot of reading.  Mainly the same book- It's Hard Being A Bunny.  I pretty much have it memorized, but the girls love reading it.  Sometimes they read it to each other.  So cute.

And somehow in our busy days, I found time to craft a little.  I get so much inspiration from one of Zach's fabulous cousins (whom I've never met, but feel like I know), that I copied her idea of a no-sew banner.  I was so excited about how it turned out and Haley said "OH!  I love your decorations!", so I must have done ok.

I even borrowed her idea of little hearts on a stick.  I put them in a vase with some valentine's day filler and think it is all pretty perfect.  Not bad for a first try.

Things On Thursday

We are off and running in the new year.

Last week we decided to take a day trip up to Miami and go to the zoo with some friends.  Haley loved getting to feed the giraffes again.  She says that their tongues still tickle her hand.  I love that shes fearless enough to go up to these huge animals and feed them.

Emily has been practicing her driving.  Only 14.5 more years to get it down.

One afternoon Haley set up her music .  She had her book that had all her songs and then she had her xylophone in front of it.  She was playing music from her "music book" all afternoon.  So creative for her to come up with!

Emily loves to sprawl out and play anywhere.  On this day she made herself quite comfortable on the kitchen floor while I was making dinner.  She was so precious with her Elmo slippers on and playing so well by herself.

Another afternoon, the weather was so nice that we went to the park.  It was a funny little surprise to see a drum on the playground, but Haley got right to it.  She loves drums and had so much fun banging out some music.

And Emily was super happy when she found a Mickey/Minnie Mouse ball.  That was all she needed.

Things On Thursday

We have been pretty busy lately and with nothing in particular.  In between school, classes, Zach working, and the day to day stuff, not much time is really left.  But, somehow, we've managed to squeeze in a little fun.

The first Saturday of the month, Home Depot does a class for kids to come in and build something.  Haley always loves going.  This month's build was a snowman napkin holder.  I think she did a great job!

One of the nice things that Key West does every month is a free locals Sunday, which means that certain attractions are free to anyone that lives here.  The girls are loving trains ("choo choos"), so we took them out on the Conch train this past weekend.  They both loved the wind going through their hair and all the waving to people on the street.

I was recently inspired by a friend's picture to make a no sew Christmas tree skirt.  The girls each have a 3ft silver tree and it's so hard to find a cute mini tree skirt, so I thought I would just make my own.  I wasn't too sure what I got myself into, but after a few hours and lots of glue sticks, I think the end result is pretty good.

And speaking of Christmas trees, ours is up.  This is not our usual tree.  Haley let us "borrow" her tree this year.  Since we are going to be with family this holiday, we didn't want to get out too much stuff and we couldn't not put up a tree.  So we used the smaller silver tree and only a few ornaments.  It's been perfect and we are in the holiday spirit!

Things On Thursday

The past few weeks have been a little crazy, so here are a few things we've been up to.

Haley and Emily had an impromptu picnic one afternoon with the plastic fruits and veggies.

Haley loves using the mixing bowls as hats.  Pretty stylish I think.

Zach would be pretty proud of me for posting this since I usually rag on him a little about his nerdiness for a few things.  We had a brown out one morning and our power was pretty weak.  So he got out his "tell me how much power we have" machine and we only had half of what we normally do.  He was so excited that he took a picture and I'm happy to show it off :)

We haven't had the safest of weeks here.
I burned my wrist on the oven one day.  Awful.

Then Haley had a minor face-plant into the coffee table.  There was blood, lots of tears, a few cuts, and a fat lip.  But as most kids do, she bounced back pretty quickly and was back to her wild ways.

Haley had her first day of preschool and Emily had her first day of Mommy and Me last week.  So to celebrate, a few days before we went out and got some frozen yogurt.  A big hit with both girls!

And the day before school started, we had a big pancake breakfast.  I attempted to make Haley a butterfly and Emily a ladybug.  A so-so attempt, but we had a good morning celebrating our growing girls before school started.
