1st Day of School

Somehow it happened.  Summer ended and it was time for school to start.  I do enjoy summer and being with the girls, but it is always nice when it's time to get back to a normal routine.

Haley's big day was first.  Pre-K.  How did that happen?  She was really excited.  I was too, but I was also a little sad that she was going to real school, all day long school. 

Emily and I got to walk her in on the first day. 

I shed a few tears this morning.  But she was ready, and ready for me to go and leave her to learn. 

We got into the car and Emily asked me "Are we leaving Haley?"  I told her yes, but that we would be back to pick her up in the afternoon.  And it was just going to be us two girls for a while.  She seemed a little sad, but we had a fun day the two of us, and boy was she happy to see her big sister when we picked her up!  Haley had a great first day and is so happy to go back each day.

A week later, it was Emily's first day for Mother's Day Out.  It went significantly better than last year!  She didn't even shed a tear.  What a big girl!

Now that school has started up again, it means Mommy gets two days a week (or 10 whole hours a week!) to lay around on the couch eating bon bons (or at least that's what Daddy thinks!).

Last Day of School

Only a few short months ago, Haley was just shy of 3 years and it was her very first day of school.

Then somehow, the months flew by and she was 3 1/2 and it was her last day.

She has loved going to school.  Granted, it's only a program for 2 year olds and it was three days a week for a few hours, but she got to be around kids her age, play, sing, dance, and learn.  She had such a wonderful teacher and great friends. 

Every morning Haley would wake up and say "It's time for school!".   She was always ready to go get her backpack and get in the car to see her all her friends.  When we would get to the playground, she would run off and play without looking back.  When I would pick her up, she would sometimes tell me about her day, mostly what she didn't eat at snack time (it was usually cheese).  After we got home, most days she would put on her teacher glasses and play school with all her animals.  She sings the "Good Morning" song and teaches them all sorts of things. 

 

Haley didn't always have the patience to sit and do art, but everything she did I have a picture of. 

I can't believe how fast the year went by, but it makes me so happy that Haley has enjoyed going to school. 

For now, it is time to enjoy our summer vacation before it starts all over again next year.

Art Show

Last week was the girls' school art show.  It is a chance for all the kids and parents to get "Key West dressed up" and see what the kids have been making in school.  Haley was thrilled that she got to wear her pretty bracelet and necklace for the event.  Zach got to take Haley while I stayed home with our sick little girl, but I made sure to give him the camera so I could see all the fun afterwards.

Haley and her friends were the life of the party as they danced to all the music.

And they got to see some of Emily's artwork.

I wish that I could have been there to see all the fun, but it was a great chance for Haley and Zach to spend some fun time together.
